Grits and Grillades

When I got married we had a traditional Creole meal served at our wedding meal. My grandmother and favorite aunt prepared it, and aside from the ceremony itself that meal is one of my favorite memories of the day.

In this day, there seem to be so many couples who have a caterer make the meal – if they even have one. And if it’s not the ubiquitous “rubber chicken dinner,” it’s most often not something memorable and rarely something you would cook in your own kitchen.

Having the ability to make Grits and Grillades just like it was made for me on my wedding day is one of the best gifts these two fabulous ladies in my life could have given me.

I talk often about “food memories,” I love the memories associated with grits and grillades: that intimate ceremony when I married James Hollowell (who you’ve met before on this show) and that fabulous meal with all the people we love.

Recipes:
Grillades
Garlic Cheese Grits
Kitchen Sink Salad
Green Bean Bundles
Ann’s Bloody Mary
